The Hairy Coo offers fun and entertaining tours of Scotland from Edinburgh. Visitors can choose from private tours, day trips, and multi-day tours of Scotland. Each tour is guided by one of our very enthusiastic, experienced, and entertaining Scottish tour guides.
On a Hairy Coo tour you will see stunning scenery, get close to nature, and see many fascinating sites. Our tour guides will tell you about the places you see and also tell tales of Scotland's fascinating history.
Our tours got as far north as the Isle of Skye, Loch Ness and Inverness. We also travel through Glencoe, the Cairngorms National Park and visit places like Stirling Castle, Doune Castle, and Pitlochry.
The Hairy Coo was established in 2010 by two well versed and enthusiastic Scottish tour guides who had a passion of showcasing their home to the rest of the world and proving that Scotland truly is the greatest wee country on Earth. They believed Scotland was much more than tartan and shortbread and wanted to share the culture, the personality and the brilliant sense of humour they grew up surrounded by.
Despite years of experience in taking guests to breathtaking natural landscapes and world-class man-made sites across the country, along with sharing our extensive and fascinating history, it was evident that there was one certain animal that was stealing the attention of everyone on board ? Highland Cattle. Taking the lead from their soon to be customers, the company was named ?The Hairy Coo? ? We guess you could say we loved these ginger coos before they were cool!
After purchasing a bright orange bus, the pair set off on the road with the intention of bringing as many people on board with them as possible, no matter their financial situation. They pioneered the first Free Highland Coach Tour in the world and for years maintained the company by contributing all tips and donations toward running the tour the following day, and the day after, and the day after that. After realising they had the full support of returning visitors, they took the leap to fully invest in the company and began their first paid tour to Loch Ness.
Since then, we have welcomed over 200,000 adventurers and have grown to add tours that visit all corners of the country, spanning 1-5 days.
